Cleo is hands down one of the most stiking cria born at our ranch! She has a gorgeous head and well proportioned body. And her fiber is a yummy bright cinnamon color, very dense and crimpy with good fineness and uniformity. We have tried showing her but she becomes so stressed that the judges can't get a good look at her. Too bad, because her pedigree is stellar! With Snowmass Royal Promise and Miss Mayflower as parents, we'll happily put her to work in our foundation herd. Her 2012 EPDs are very good: AFD -1.01, SD-0.007,.SF -0.94,%>30 -3.869. She offers the ability to produce cria with excellent fineness, density, uniformity and staple length resulting in heavy fleece weight. For her first cria, we've bred Cleo to our light silver grey herdsire, CMN Amego. He boasts a bright, very dense fleece with bold crimp. And with his excellent conformation, we expected an amazing cria! And viola, we got a beautiful true black boy! Cleo's second (2015) cria is out of Snowmass Velvet Legend. Both parents boast amazing density, crimp and style. Add Legend's fineness and we expected a very fine, dense and well conformed cria. What we got was a very pretty brown girl with black points and lots of potential. Unfortunately we lost her at about 2 weeks. We then rebred Cleo to Silver Samovar by Vantaggio, our fantastic silver gray Reserve Color Champion male. Sammo's fleece is very fine and dense, exhibiting nice bundling and brightness. This pairing produced a gorgeous medium fawn girl. Rhiannon is a bit of a fleece monster with tons of bright peachy fleece that is very soft, dense and crimpy! For her 2017 cria, we bred cleo to a sire we recently sold, Legend Hazit (Duke). Our hope was that his multi-generational gray background would take advantage of her ability to produce black and possibly give us gray. Boy did they come through with a beautiful silver gray girl! Queen Nefertiti is a serious fleece monster with amazing staple length, density and character. After seeing what Cleo can do with gray, we decided to breed her to Vantaggio, Samovar's sire. Our hope is that, with less black in Vantaggio's pedigree, the gray will come through. We can't wait to birth this cria!

Kit Carson has once again returned to CA for the winter/spring and can't wait to meet your girls! We're so excited to have him back and are looking forward to showing his youngsters at the Gold Country Gathering this fall! Recently at the 2021 Gold Country Gathering, our first show in two years, son MHAR Aurelio Carson won RC in Walking Fleece! Judge Cheryl Gehly comment on his fineness, uniformity across primaries/secondaries and lack of guard hair! Check out his 2020 cria fleece (6 months). The photo doesn't do it justice as it rivals dad's for brightness and character! 2019 saw daughter Ebonni Carson win CC in walking fleece (TB) at the Gold Country Gathering under Wini Labrecque! We're so in love with all his cria, but this one is truly special:) The first thing we noticed about his cria is the outstanding vigor, and once dry the brightness of the fleece! And the fleece character is no slouch either. As the cria have grown, we're seeing excellent early density and crimp, glowing brightness, and yummy softness/hand. Oh and the depth of color! Check out the pix of some of our first cria in all their dusty glory. Oh and let's not forget personality... these cria are among the most laid back and easiest to train that we have produced! KC took his first championship at 8 months of age. Since then, his fleece has maintained its length and fineness and he remains one of the best grey males in the country. His production has not disappointed with multiple championships among his offspring. To date we've counted at least 18 of his offspring have won RCC or Color Championships! Among the most recent are RR Crawford, RR Lancelot, 4-Sight's Centerfold, MHAR's Ebonni Carson and MHAR Aurelio Carson. If you have a look at his Watt follicle testing results, the reasons will be obvious. The mix of black and white fibers in his grey is homogeneous in micron. He is the only alpaca, male or female, that carries the best characteristics of the Snowmass Peruvian Casanova and Guns n Roses lines. His follicle density testing by Ian Watt is outstanding at 2 years of age: Density: 57.9/mm2 Secondary: Primary fiber ratio: 9.8:1 In-skin primary fiber diameter: 22.3 micron SD 3.2 In-skin secondary fiber diameter: 13.7 micron SD 2.5 Comments: "High density coupled with an excellent set of numbers for the secondary fiber population give this male potential as a significant sire in .... a group not known for its uniformity within each fiber population. This is a significant animal for silver grey alpacas, where the black fibers tend to be very strong in micron and vary across the staple in most alpacas of this colour.

Purchaser will provide alpaca insurance on each animal until paid in full. Breeding/Show quality maidens come with a free breeding to any Menagerie Hill Ranch owned unrestricted Herdsire. Agisting (boarding) available - 30 days included with in State purchase of breeding quality alpaca. 90 days included for out of state purchases. Purchaser assumes all Vet fees. Transport available - first 100 miles included with purchase of breeding/show quality alpaca. Package deals available.
